Shopify Unveils Advanced B2B Catalog Management Features
Shopify has rolled out significant enhancements to its B2B catalog management features, empowering businesses to tailor pricing and product availability for their wholesale customers. These updates offer greater flexibility in customising the buying experience, including overall price adjustments, fixed pricing for specific items, and volume pricing, all manageable through the Shopify admin.
Revolutionising B2B Pricing and Product Management
Shopify’s latest B2B catalog management features provide businesses with unprecedented control over their wholesale operations. Merchants can now create highly customised buying experiences for their B2B clients, ensuring that pricing and product availability align perfectly with individual customer needs or market segments.
Key Features of the New B2B Catalogs
- Customisable Pricing: Merchants can apply an overall percentage increase or decrease to all product prices within a catalog. Additionally, fixed prices and volume pricing can be set for specific products or variants, overriding any overall percentage adjustments.
- Flexible Catalog Assignment: Catalogs can be assigned to specific markets, allowing for differentiated pricing strategies across various B2B customer groups or geographical regions. For instance, a business can create separate catalogs for European and North American B2B customers.
- Direct Company Assignment: For businesses that price on a per-customer basis, catalogs can be directly assigned to individual company locations. Each company location can have up to 25 catalogs assigned, whether through markets or direct assignment.
- Product Availability Control: Catalogs enable merchants to control which products are available to specific B2B customers, ensuring a curated shopping experience.
Managing Multiple Catalogs
When multiple catalogs are assigned to the same company location, Shopify’s system intelligently displays prices to B2B customers:
- If catalogs include different products, all products from each catalog are displayed.
- If the same product appears in multiple catalogs with different prices, the lowest set price for that item is displayed to the customer.
- Quantity rules and volume pricing are displayed from the catalog offering the lowest price per variant. If two catalogs have the same lowest price, the rules from the catalog created first are applied.
Streamlined Catalog Creation and Updates
Creating and managing catalogs is straightforward within the Shopify admin, under Markets > Catalogs. Merchants can create an unlimited number of catalogs. Updates can be made directly in the admin or in bulk using CSV files, providing efficient management of pricing and product information.
